Commonly used connection methods for aluminum composite panels:

Aluminum-plastic panels can be joined using metal and plastic joining methods commonly used for processing. Here are a few common ways to connect.

(1) Rivet connection:

Aluminum-plastic panels can be joined between panels or between panels and other materials using rivets suitable for aluminum. For applications in outdoor or high humidity areas, stainless steel core rivets should be used to avoid corrosion affecting the surface of the aluminum-plastic panel. If iron core rivets are used, the core must be extracted after riveting. Countersunk rivets can only be used for indoor applications.

(2) Threaded fasteners:

The points are for external use and indoor use:

a. outdoor fixed parts:

When the screw fixing member is used outdoors, the thermal expansion coefficient of the aluminum composite panel needs to be considered. In order to prevent the aluminum composite panel from being deformed by thermal deformation, the opening on the aluminum composite panel needs to be larger than the screw diameter in order to meet the requirements of expansion and contraction.
The use of stainless steel screws with ferrules eliminates the deformation of the aluminum-plastic panel and the functionality of this product has been verified. To select a screw suitable for the structural material, use a torque wrench or a screwdriver to tighten the screw to ensure that the gasket effectively seals the opening but does not tighten too much to leave marks on the surface of the aluminum plate.
Sometimes it is necessary to use a deformed drill bit or casing to drill holes in the aluminum plate or bottom structure to achieve centering drilling and rivet construction.
It is important to ensure that the protective film is removed before fixing the screws.

b. indoor fixed parts:

For indoor applications, steel or wood fixing screws with different head shapes can be used. These screws usually do not allow the aluminum composite panel to have thermal expansion displacement.
The countersunk screw can be used to fix the aluminum-plastic panel. You can use the usual countersink method or directly press the aluminum panel into the panel. The hole on the aluminum panel is larger than the diameter of the screw rod.

(3) Plastic welding (only for PE core material):

The use of hot air for welding between plastics can be applied to the connection between aluminum-plastic panels. The electric heating torch is used to melt the aluminum plate with heated air. The polyethylene core layer and the polyethylene plastic electrode are cooled and connected. The following is good. Conditions for welding quality:
a. Prepare a good board edge interface;
b, clean hot air;
c, the correct welding temperature;
d, the correct contact pressure;
e, welding speed.

(4) Bonding:

Bonding metal adhesive / universal adhesive. Used for indoor advertising board and booth layout. Commonly used metals or common adhesives are suitable for bonding on composite panels. Double-sided tape is suitable for connection with low strength requirements. For applications requiring high strength bonding, we recommend a one-component adhesive, SIKA-BOND.
It should be noted that the ability of the adhesive to withstand static strength when used outdoors is typical.
When the aluminum-plastic composite board is bonded to other materials, the bonding failure may occur due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient of the material.

(5) Card connector connection:

It is also common to use a combination fixture to secure and attach the aluminum-plastic panel. The fixture can be made of aluminum or plastic material. It is usually composed of two parts and connected by screws.
